England Test skipper Joe Root has expressed the willingness to tour Pakistan for a bilateral series and also said it could happen anytime in the future. However, he also said that the final call still remains in the Board’s hands, but he would openly welcome the idea if it happens in the future.

“I’d love to go and visit Pakistan,” Root said after the completion of the second test.

“It would be a great opportunity to go and play there personally. Unfortunately, it’s not my decision to make, but it looks a wonderful country to go and play cricket in. The wickets look nice and flat, which will be a nice change to what we have just played on here.

“You could see the emotion of everyone back in Pakistan when Test cricket was there back-end of last year” he added.

England vs Pakistan Day 2

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chief Wasim Khan also hoped that England would make a visit to Pakistan for a series for at least a T20 series. Earlier, this week, former Pakistan pacer Wasim Akram also expressed his desire to see England your Pakistan for a series. He said that England owes a tour to Pakistan for a series especially after Azhar Ali and his men travelled to England during the time of coronavirus.

“You boys owe Pakistan cricket, and the country, a lot, with the boys coming over here. They’ve been here almost two-and-a-half months in the biosecure environment. So if everything goes well, England should tour Pakistan. I promise you they’ll get looked after on and off the field there and every game will be a packed house” Akram said.

England last toured Pakistan in 2005-2006 and since the gunfire on the Sr Lankan team bus took place, no major team has travelled Pakistan for any series.
