England cricket team skipper Heather Knight wrote her name in the history books on Wednesday as she became the first woman cricketer to score a ton in all three formats of the game.

Heather Knight, on Tuesday, smashed a stellar century against Thailand in the ongoing ICC Women’s T20 Cricket World Cup 2020. With her knock, she now holds a century to her name in all three formats of the game- a feat which hasn’t been achieved in women’s cricket yet.

Knight came into bat in a difficult situation with England reeling at 7-2 in 1.4 overs. Heather Knight then stitched a 169-run partnership with Natalie Sciver to take England to a formidable 176 in 20 overs. Knight scored an unbeaten 108 runs in 66 balls, while Sciver too struck a half-century, scoring 59 runs off 52 balls. England eventually won the game by 98 runs.

This is England skipper’s maiden knock in T20 cricket, while she scored her maiden test ton back in 2013 against Australia. She has also scored an ODI hundred against Pakistan in 2017.

The English skipper has played 101 ODIs in her career. She has scored 2800 runs at an average of 37.8, including one century and 19 half-centuries.

Placed at group B in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, England are comfortably sitting at the top of the table with 2 points to their name. They have played two matches thus far, winning and losing one game apiece. West Indies and South Africa also have two points each to their name, while Thailand is languishing at the bottom of the table with no wins in two matches.
