Former Australian star cricketer shows faith in Australia to win Border-Gavaskar Trophy against mighty India

Pat Cummins

Adam Gilchrist, the former Australian cricketer, is optimistic that Pat Cummins‘ team, can win the Border-Gavaskar series in India after 19 years provided they field three seamers with him. The former wicketkeeper-batter, who served as Australia’s temporary captain during the 2004 series victory—the only one they had since 1969—added that Cummins should avoid trying a new spinner in sub-continental conditions because it has never been successful.

Gilchrist said that ‘I think Aussies can do it as the current squad and starting XI  shares many characteristics with the team we used in 2004. He asserted that Australia should simply trust their top four bowlers to complete the task, noting that the seasoned seamers shouldn’t have any issue reverse swinging the ball and can turn the match to their side if comes the best off spinner.

Having the top four bowlers in front and sticking with them that also includes Nathan Lyon, who is exceptional and unquestionably the best off-spinner Kangaroos ever had, and three seamers who can all get really excellent reverse swing, Lyon can play his part. This can lead to a massive victory.

On the other hand, India is also having a power-packed team that includes batters like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Cheteshwar Pujara which comes in top batsmen of the world and have the bowlers like Mohammed Shami, Umesh Yadav. Rohit Sharma will lead the Indian team.

Both the teams carries great troops of players and will give a tough fight to each other and will be great to see that who names the rivalry.
