Everton appoints Carlo Ancelotti as their manager

In a mix of events, Everton has confirmed ex-Napoli manager Carlo Ancelotti as their new manager on Monday morning and was unveiled at Goodison Park after confirming him as their 18th manager.

 

Carlo Ancelotti, the man of records in the Serie A got a sack after Napoli secured their knockout berth in the Champions League which raised several eyebrows. However, he was linked with Everton since then and now; he has finally made it to Goodison Park.

The Italian manager was present on Saturday when Everton played a dull goalless draw against Arsenal at Goodison Park. The game also marked the final game for Duncan Ferguson as a caretaker manager. Even though the draw is not the best thing which Everton expect at this stage as they sit just 3 places above the drop zone but they have taken off the points from Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal in their last three games.

When the journalists present in the room asked why Everton for a manager who has managed clubs like Juventus, AC Milan, Chelsea and Bayern Munich, he replied;

“The biggest factor was the ambition of the Club, the history that this Club has, the tradition and the atmosphere [created by] the supporters”

These are all the reasons. Also, this Club, we want to improve, we want to be a better team, we want to compete, and so these are the reasons I decided to come here”

When asked about his ambitions regarding the club, the Italian manager said;

“Now I work for Everton, it is a fantastic club, and my dream is to bring Everton in the top positions of the Premier League as soon as possible”

When asked regarding the future of Duncan Ferguson who successfully played the role of the caretaker manager, Carlo Ancelotti told media that he will continue as an important person in the first team coaching set up.  Also, he asked the supporters to get behind the team and to give him the time to succeed at Goodison Park. He said;

“It will not be overnight but we have to be patient, with a clear idea and a clear focus, and I am sure we are going to improve quickly.”

After a series of downs, Everton might look completely look as a different team under Carlo Ancelotti. On the other hand, Carlo Ancelotti will prepare himself for the Boxing Day fixture against Sean Dyche’s Burnley.
