ENG Vs SA 2nd ODI : Sam Curran found violating ICC Code of Conduct. Find Out!

Whenever 2 top teams face other, competitiveness is expected to be cut throat and the intensity gets higher than ever. Regardless of the format, every team tries to pull out of their comfort zone in order to make the opponents uncomfortable.

Talking about Formats, its the ODI season and the ICC 50-over world cup year which will take place in India in the later half of 2023. Every team knows the build up to the WC is very important and winning matches now will provide a lot of confidence as well as momentum.

All eyes will be on the reigning champions England who are currently touring South Africa for a 3-match ODI series. During the 2nd ODI at the Mangaung Oval we all know what popped off between Jos Buttler and Rassie Van Der Dussen but perhaps an incident went missing.

Three Lions’ premier All-rounder Sam Curran got into hot waters following a violation of ICC’s Code of conduct. Curran reportedly breached Level 1 of the Code of conduct and it will see 15% of his match fees get deducted. According to rule books, the 24-year-old violated Article 2.5 which is for players and player support personnel.

It further suggests that when a bowler throws a verbal jab to a dismissed batter and if the batter has a repressive behavior in return – it is recognized as a disciplinary breach. It all took place during the 28th over of the second innings when Curran removed Proteas’ captain.

Temba Bavuma had already scored a Ton and Sam Curran after getting him bowled, had an over the top celebration right in front of Bavuma’s face which had could have brought out a negative reaction from the Batter. After the match, Sam Curran sat with Jeff Crowe of ICC’s Elite panel of Match referees and accepted the offense.

It will be a good lesson for the young all-rounder who just won the ICC T20 World cup 2022 becoming the man of the tournament. The 3rd and final ODI between England and South Africa will take place today.
