Watch : Jos Buttler and Rassie Van Der Dussen get into a heated verbal altercation!

During the 2nd One day International between South Africa and England at the Mangaung Oval on Sunday, a heated verbal altercation took place between a Proteas and an Englishman in the 19th over of the 2nd Innings. It was England’s wicket-keeper Jos Buttler and South African batter Rassie Van Der Dussen who were caught in the act in the 19th over.

It went down after a googly by Adil Rashid which took the inside edge of Van der Dussen and went on to struck his pads. The ball then hung on to the air and Buttler behind the stumps tried to catch it but Rassie Van der Dussen somehow blocked his path. The Proteas batter was on 22 off 14 at that time.

That’s when things took a different turn. Buttler and Van der Dussen exchanged uncanny looks before the former threw the first verbal volley. I’m trying to get to the ball. What’s your problem Rassie? It’s not all about you all the time.” – said Jos Buttler.

Rassie Van Der Dussen did not hold back either – “No, it’s about you” – he replied. Jos Buttler quickly followed up by saying “I’m allowed to try and catch the ball. “What do you want me to do?”

Their approach looked very uncomfortable and one of the Umpires interrupted saying – “Okay, calm down!” Jos Buttler’s intensity was understandable because England had set up a mammoth total of 342 runs with half-centuries from Harry Brook, Jos Buttler and Moeen Ali.

South Africa in response successfully chased down the total with 5 wickets and 5 balls to spare. Crucial innings from Temba Bavuma, David Miller, Aiden Markram, Heinrich Klaasen and Marco Jansen helped South Africa level the series by 1-1.

The 3rd and deciding ODI will take place tomorrow at Diamond Oval stadium from 4:00 PM onwards.
