BCCI set to implement home & away format alongside undisclosed changes in WPL next year!

The second edition of the Women's Premier League likely to feature home and away format!

After the successful conclusion of the inaugural Women’s Premier League, the 2nd season is likely to return with a home and away format. It will mean that just like the players in Men’s IPL, WPL cricketers will also travel the country and it will also increase the league’s popularity.

The WPL apparently had more success than the Women’s Big Bash League T20 in Australia as the tournament produced top quality cricket. IPL’s most successful side Mumbai Indians’ women’s became the inaugural champions after seeing off Delhi Capitals Women in the final.

Indian women’s national team skipper Harmanpreet Kaur defeated her Australian counter part Meg Lanning’s DC by 7-wickets. Despite being a 5 team tournament, fans were able to experience many brilliant moments from all the 22 WPL matches and in the upcoming edition, the BCCI is likely to bring changes to the current system.

The Apex cricketing board will be determined to increase the viewership, popularity and revenue of the WPL and the first major step could be the introduction of home and away matches. A league gets successful because of the fans and our sources are suggesting for an even more spicy contest next year.

“In order to engage more fans we are thinking to introduce home away format going forward. As of now it’s just the plan as nothing has been discussed with the officials but the idea will be pitched when time comes. We are very keen to improvise women’s cricket and whatever will be required to improve will be done.”  – sources told sportzcraazy.

Another statement read that BCCI could bring forth unclear interesting changes to the league. “There will be some more interesting changes from next season, however, it’s early to talk more about it,” sources added.
