BCCI is not happy with National Cricket Academy with Player’s repeated injuries; Reports

The Board of Control in India isn’t happy with the National Cricket Academy after a few players, including Jasprit Bumrah and Shreyas Gopal, were pronounced fit during the previous regime and later were declared unfit in India’s squad.

Bumrah was certified fit by the NCA and BCCI medical teams a few days ago and was re-inducted into the squad, but he did not play a single game and was returned to the academy.

The same thing happened to Iyer, who was in NCA a few days ago recovering from an injury and was recruited into India’s national squad as soon as he healed.

Iyer did not bat on the final day of the fourth Test match due to a lower back injury and he was immediately sent back to the doctor.

As per the inside BCCI source “The Federation is not satisfied with Nitin Patel led NCA medical division will be absolutely demanding questions from them”

“It’s frustrating for sure. And it’s not the first time that a player has recurrence of an injury. We should have learned from Bumrah but we did not. Shreyas should have been eased into the team and not rushed to play grinding Test cricket. Hopefully, he will be fit for the ODI series. But it’s difficult to say anything at this point. He had scans and is currently under the medical team’s observation,” a senior BCCI source said while talking to Insidesport.

Also, in the recent six months, a few players, like Deepak Chahar, Jasprit Bumrah, and Iyer, have been rushed by NCA and proclaimed healthy, only to be injured immediately, raising issues about how they are proclaiming players fit when they still require more recovery and rehabilitation time.

Sustaining Back injuries are difficult to treat because they take a long time to heal.

Iyer has been a stalwart for India’s One-Day International squad, and his absence will have an influence on the Men in Blue’s hopes in the next series against Australia.

He is also the captain of the Kolkata Knight Riders, therefore if his ailment persists, it would harm the franchise’s hopes in the long run.

Iyer has been the mainstay for India in Test Cricket, if injury persists for a long it will also riddle India’s middle-order chances in longest format of the game.
