Ashes 2nd test Day 3 Lunch: Australia lead by 103 runs, all set for a 2-0 lead

The third day of a test match is often regarded as the moving day, where both teams play with utmost sincerity. This day generally tilts the match in favour of one team and probably tells us where the match is going. And with this test match evenly poised before the beginning of play today, this day was very crucial for both teams.

Australia have, however, almost knocked England out of this test match as they find themselves in a brilliant position. The visitors are 12/0 after 6 overs at Lunch on Day 3 in their second innings, leading the hosts by 103 runs. England need to take those 10 Aussie wickets as soon as possible to even have a chance of making a comeback.

The day began with England at 278/4 with Ben Stokes and Harry Brook settled on to the crease and trailing Australia by just 138 runs. Starc started the proceedings with the ball and got Stokes out on the second ball of the day. It was just a matter of time after that, as the English innings got folded like a deck of cards.

Brook got to his fifty, and Broad got a few blows on his body, but apart from this, it was all Australia in the morning session. The visitors now find themselves in a situation where they can go 2-0 up in a visiting Ashes series, which will be a huge achievement for the World Test Champions.

Australia has probably suffered a huge blow, as we might not see Nathan Lyon taking part in this series again. Their bowling has been spot on since the morning, and now they have shifted an evenly poised test in their favour.

For England, it is now a battle of taking wickets early and bowling Australia out for a cheap total. The conditions seem good for bowling, as England will fancy chasing something below 250–270 runs because in the fourth innings it is going to be a huge task to score runs.
