The forthcoming Women’s Premier League (WPL), which has yet to deliver its first ball, has already generated a lot of hype on social media.
The next WPL season is scheduled to begin in Mumbai on March 4, 2023.
More than 1000 players have registered for the close bid auction, which will take place in Mumbai on February 13th, 2023.
According to the most recent information, 409 players have been chosen to be auctioned off at the Jio Convention Center in Mumbai.

Five distinct franchise including Adani Sportsline, Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals, Royal Challengers pvt ltd and Capri Global will be up against each other for selecting right players for the mega event.
A minimum of 15 players and maximum 17 players will be picked by distinct franchise and every franchise will have total prize pool of INR 12 crore.
Initially auction was supposed to be held in 5th and 6th Feb 2023 but dates have to be changed as most of the support staff was busy in SA T2o and International League T20 as most teams in these tournaments are owned by IPL franchise.
Notably, 246 of the 409 players listed are Indian, and 163 are classified as abroad players.

Eight international players are also on the list, while 30 players will be reserved for the 90 spaces that must be filled by different franchises.
The biggest reason why BCCI decided to organize WPL in Mumbai is based on the fact that the recently concluded series between India and Australia women’s t20 was full house in the city.
