Wimbledon: Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner advance as rain disrupts day

Wimbledon’s third day was filled with exciting matches and dramatic finishes, though heavy rain showers forced the postponement of several games. Meanwhile, Wimbledon defending champion Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner and Coco Gauff advance to the next round.

Defending champion Carlos Alcaraz battled through a five-set against his close friend Frances Tiafoe. The match, played on Centre Court, lasted nearly 4 hours and showcased some incredible tennis. Alcaraz emerged victorious 5-7, 6-2, 4-6, 7-6 (7/2), 6-2, relying on his powerful serve (16 aces) and a total of 55 winners. Despite the rivalry on the court, the sportsmanship shone through as both players embraced warmly at the net, with Tiafoe jokingly admitting his “ultimate respect” for Alcaraz’s skills. Alcaraz now advances to the last 16 and will face either Ugo Humbert or Brandon Nakashima in the next round.
