Vijender Singh Outpunches Charles Adamu, Extends Unbeaten Streak To 12-0

India’s professional boxing Star Vijender Singh outpunched Ghana’s former Commonwealth champion Charles Adamu to extend his unbeaten streak to 12 on Friday night. Vijender Singh, who is considered the pride of Indian boxing, continues to flourish in professional boxing. Vijender kept his unbeaten streak intact as he defeated former two-time Commonwealth Super Middleweight Champion Charles Edamu to clinch his 12th successive win in the professional circuit.

The 34-year-old ‘knock out man’ from India reigned supreme unanimously in an eight-round super middleweight contest against an 8 year older Ghana boxer. Vijender looked aggressive during the bout and he was successful in sending the Ghana boxer down on his knees in the second and sixth rounds, Vijender’s right hand proved to be heavy for Edamu, who was injured by Vijender’s punch, as he fell twice in the ring.

However, even after he was thrown off balance twice Adamu kept himself in the fight as he ensured that the bout went the full distance. Adamu did lose a point for excessive bending in the fourth round. It is worth mentioning that Adamu had walked into the ring with Vijender on the back of experience of 47 fights, out of which he won 33 and lost 14.

He had 26 knockout wins to his name, but this time his big experience did not work for him. He made his professional debut in August 2001. Adamufought Ukrainian Vitali Tsypko in February 2004 for the WBA Inter-Continental and suffered the first defeat of his pro career. The Ghana boxer was the Commonwealth Super middleweight champion twice, first between August 2003 and March 2004 and then from December 2009 to April 2010.

Earlier in July, the WBO Asia Pacific and Oriental Super Middleweight champion Vijender had defeated Mike Snyder to register his 11th consecutive win in his professional career.
