US Batters Shows Collective Fighting Spirit Against UAE in WC Qualifier
The United States’ batters showed great fighting spirit in their WC Qualifier match against the UAE on Thursday, despite ultimately coming up short by 1 run and losing the match. The US batters’ collective contribution against the UAE was a showcase of their team spirit and skills.
The US was given a challenging target of 308 to win, but they got off to a good start with Monank Patel and Aaron Jones putting on 112 for the third wicket. Modani scored for the US with a splendid 61, whereas Jones gathered a super solid 75 runs.
After the fall of Modani at 61 in the 31st over, the US took heart from the way and fought back after being reduced to 142-3 in the 31st over. They scored 93 runs in the last 17 overs, with another batter Gajanand Singh playing a key role in the recovery. Singh scored 69 off 44 balls, and he was supported by extras, which contributed quick runs to the US total.
The US’s batting performance was a marked improvement from their previous match against Nepal when they were bowled out for just 207. This suggests that the US’s batting is starting to come together, and they will be confident of scoring more runs in their remaining matches.
The US’s bowlers also performed well, with Ali Khan taking 2-61 whereas Saurabh Netravalkar and N Kenjige contributed 1 wicket each. However, the UAE’s batsmen were too good on the day, and they were able to set the high total of 308 runs at the loss of 4 wickets.
Despite the loss, the US can take heart from their performance against the UAE. They showed great fighting spirit, and they will be confident of putting in a better performance in their remaining matches.
The US’s batters will need to be more consistent if they are to qualify for the 2023 World Cup. However, their performance against the UAE showed that they have the potential to score big runs, and they will be a dangerous team if they can get their batting in order.
