Transfer Round-up of the day: 9th July

 

There is a lot of transfer talk in town and a lot of teams aggressively moving in the market to seal signature of priced assets. Here is a look at top stories from the day:

  • Bournemouth table bumper five-year-deal to Wilson

AFC Bournemouth have reportedly offered a mega five-year deal to in-form striker Callum Wilson to keep him at the club amid interests. Wilson is in demand and reportedly, on the radar of West Ham, while Chelsea have seemingly been interested in the English striker as well.

The 27-year-old has now been offered a contract in excess of £25million running up until 2024. Bournemouth are hoping this bumper deal would convince Wilson to stay put.

West Ham have seen Marko Arnautovic leave for Chinese Super League and are looking for replacements. They are open to table a bid of around £35m for the striker and are hopeful of sealing his signature.

This would make for an interesting news in the coming days.

 

  • Edu reunites with Arsenal

Edu is back at Arsenal where he spent a good four years of his career as the Technical Director. The Brazilian held a similar position with the Brazil National Team and is now reunited with Arsenal.

A statement read: “In his role as technical director, Edu will coordinate the work of our first-team coaching group, the academy and player scouting and recruitment in order to oversee the constant building up and efficient strengthening of our squad.”

Edu said: “Arsenal has always had a special place in my heart and I’m thrilled to be returning to this great club in this new role.

“We have a strong squad and some very talented young players with fantastic people at every level. I’m looking forward to helping make a difference.”

  • Steve Bruce could replace Benitez

Reports are rife that former Sunderland gaffer could replace Rafa Benitez at Newcastle. Benitez did a wonderful job at Newcastle to keep them afloat despite limited budgets and managing director Lee Charnley is looking to plug the gap.

Steve Bruce has been identified as a replacement. Bruce was linked with Newcastle back in 2015, was lately at the helm of Owls since February before guiding Aston Villa to a 12th-place finish in the Championship

Steve Bruce comes in with a huge managerial experience and the former Manchester United defender has the likes of arch-rivals Sunderland, Sheffield United, Huddersfield, Wigan, Crystal Palace, Birmingham and Hull on his CV.

  • Arsenal going all out in the market

William Saliba, who was earlier reportedly in contact with Arsenal is believed to be travelling to England to seal the deal with Arsenal.

The Saint-Etienne defender will join on a long-term deal, but contrary to earlier reports, may be immediately available to the London club and not return to the French club on loan. The 18-year-old is expected to cost Arsenal around £26.5million.

The Gunners also look set to bring PSG youngster Nkunku on board as the French youngster is reportedly keen on a move and is waiting for Arsenal to turn back their eye on him after interest in January.

Agent of Brazilian attacking player Malcom is also reported to be travelling to England to hold talks with Arsenal in wake of sealing a deal for the Brazilian.Barca are looking to offload him but would be looking at nothing less than £36million.

  • Jay Rodriguez moves back to Burnley

The 29-year-old English striker is reuniting with former club Burnley. Rodriguez began his career at Turf Moor and is now relishing a return to the club that helped him make his name. He has returned on a two-year deal.

A Burnley statement read: “Rodriguez is back where it all began, reigniting a love affair with his hometown club as Burnley gear up for a fourth successive season in the Premier League.”

  • Manchester United and Arsenal among three English clubs interested in Southampton midfielder

English clubs Manchester United and Arsenal have shown keen interest in Southampton midfielder Mario Lemina to reinforce their weakened midfields.

Southampton brought Lemina to England from Juventus two years ago After relative success, the 25-year-old looks set to leave St Mary’s this summer.

Leicester too are seemingly interested in the French midfielder alongside United and Arsenal who are looking for a partner for Tielemans.

Lemina has not been included in Southampton’s 26-man squad for their pre-season training camp in Austria.

  • Pogba’s agent hopeful he can leave United

It is learnt that Pogba is seeking a move away from United and his agent has now got vocal about Pogba’s character and conduct.

“The player [Pogba] has done nothing wrong,” said the Italian. “He has been respectful and professional in every way and always. “The club has known his feeling for a long time.
“It is a shame other people only like to criticise without the right information, and I am also sorry that the club does not take any position against this. “Hopefully there will be soon a satisfying solution for all parties.”

Raiola came out last week to confirm Pogba, the France midfielder, wants to leave Old Trafford three years after joining from Juventus.

“Everyone knows the willingness of Paul to move on,” Raiola told The Times. “We are in the process of that. Everyone knows what the feelings of Paul are.

“Everyone within the club, from the manager to the owner, knows Paul’s wishes.”

  • Leicester break bank for Tielemans

Leicester have broken bank and all record to seal the signature of Belgium midfielder Youri Tielemans for a club record fee of £40m.

Tielemans was at loan with Leicester in the second half of the season and impressed one and all with his ability. He also fit-in well in the Leicester system and the Foxes wanted to keep hold of him. Tielemans has signed a four-yeard permanent deal, running upto 2023.

Rodgers was very impressed with the midfielders adaptability and wanted him to be his first singing of the season. “Youri fit brilliantly into the squad last season, he’s already shown that he’s capable of making an impact in the Premier League and he adds another option to an incredibly talented group of players here at Leicester City.”
