Top 5 Indian Players who went unsold in the WPL Auction 2023

The first WPL auction 2023 was filled with excitement as it took place in Mumbai on Monday, February 13. The five franchises set about building their lineups using the 12 crore they had available, and each team ended up looking quite evenly matched.

But, there were a few unexpected exclusions as well. Here, we take a look at 5 Indian players that were supposed to be sold at the WPL auction 2023 but were unable to do so.

Top 5 Indian players who went unsold are:-

  1. Simran Dil Bahadur :- A finisher who can launch the ball far from the start is a valuable asset. You are most definitely looking at a scarce product in the market if that finisher is an Indian who also bowls medium pace. Simran Dil Bahadur is unquestionably a rare talent to be found, but at the WPL Auction 2023, no one bid on her.
  2. ย Priya Punia :- Although she isn’t exactly known for her aggressive style of play, opening batter Priya Punia worked on it and showed some of it at the Women’s T20 Competition previous year. The Delhi right-handed batter has been a regular on the home circuit but hasn’t participated in an international match in almost two years. Punia is someone that certain clubs, like the Gujarat Giants and the UP Warriorz, may have sought as another top-order Indian batter, at the very least to reinforce the bench. But it was not to be, and she was another startling exclusion at the WPL sale in 2023.
  3. Mannat Kashyap :-ย Left-arm spinner Mannat Kashyap, one of India’s top players during their victorious U19 T20 World Cup campaign, was anticipated to draw interest at the WPL auction in 2023. Nonetheless, it was not to be as none of the franchises showed interest in the brilliant tweaker, whose control throughout the World Cup wowed many.
  4. Nuzhat Parween :-ย Nuzhat Parween has participated in one ODI and five T20 International matches for India. She has also had success in the Senior Women’s T20 Challenger Tournament. The Madhya Pradesh wicketkeeper-batter amassed steady runs while leading off the inning, including a half-century in the championship. So it was incredibly shocking that during the WPL Auction 2023, none of the five teams made an offer for her.
  5. Anuja Patil :- Cricketer Anuja Patil represents India in women’s Twenty20 international matches. She is from Maharashtra. She remained unsold despite having a basic price of INR 30 lakhs.
