What Things Are Not Allowed Inside A Cricket Stadium?

When you are a great sports lover and especially cricket lovers then sometimes you love to watch a cricket match live on television set with your family or with friends, with some popcorn and a cold drink but when you have cricket match at your city then you eagerly want to watch it live from ground with a lot of energy for cheering your team sometime you think  that you can feel the same atmosphere in the ground as you feel in home with lots of food and many other things.

But there are some lines and policy of cricket stadium which you can’t cross and that’s why we are can’t take some things inside the stadium.

Let’s take one view on all these things which are not allowed

Whereas previously spectators were not allowed to take any liquid refreshments into the stadiums, the restriction is now relaxed to allow water in half liter soft plastic unbranded bottles.

In addition, the ban on deck chairs has been revised to allow spectators to use small camper chairs.

Restrictions remain on hard cooler-boxes, portable braise, deck-chairs, and beach umbrellas.

International best safety and security practice demands that SA complies with current world trends at major sporting events, particularly in the light of the overall security scenario post-September 11, 2013

Things Not Allowed In Cricket Stadium

Prohibited Items

All dangerous weapons (for e.g. firearms, ammunition, knives, sharp instruments, nunchaku sticks, baseball bats, traditional weapons)

No dangerous or potentially dangerous weapons (including realistic toys or replicas thereof) such as firearms, ammunition, knives (of any form or description – exception plastic cutlery), sharp instruments of any description, nunchaku sticks, baseball bats, traditional weapons, etc shall be permitted to be brought onto the stadium grounds. This is absolutely necessary to ensure the safety and security of all persons as well as the prevention of injury or harm to any person, within the stadium or its precincts.

  • Fireworks

No fireworks shall be permitted to be brought into the stadium in order to ensure the interests of the safety and security of all persons within the stadium. Their nuisance component, as well as a potential fire hazard, is also thereby neutralized.

  • Explosives

No explosives or detonators shall be permitted to be brought into the stadium in the interests of the safety and security of all persons as well as the prevention of injury or harm to any person, within the stadium.

  • Incendiary devices

No highly flammable items and in particular incendiary devices shall be permitted to be brought into the stadium. This is in the interests of the safety and security of all persons within the stadium. A potential fire hazard is also similarly neutralized.

  • Flares

No flares shall be permitted to be brought into the stadium in order to promote the interests of the safety and security of all persons within the stadium. A potential fire hazard is also neutralized.

  • Narcotics (other than prescribed)

No narcotics (other than as prescribed by a registered medical practitioner and supported by a valid prescription) shall be permitted to be brought into the stadium grounds. The illegal possession of narcotics constitutes a criminal offense.

Restricted Items

  • Cool drinks & other Non-alcoholic beverages.

No person entering the stadium shall be permitted to bring in any form of cold-drink or any other non-alcoholic beverage, no matter what container it is contained in. Persons entering the stadium will, however, be allowed to bring in water (500 ml per person) contained in soft collapsible non-branded 500 ml plastic containers.

  • Alcoholic beverages

No person entering the stadium shall be permitted to bring any form of alcohol (i.e. beer, cider, wine or spirits) into the stadium.

  • Animals, other than guide dogs

No animal, with the exception of a certified guide dog accompanying a blind person entering the stadium, shall be permitted to be brought into the stadium grounds.

  • Balls, Frisbees, and similar items

No balls, frisbees or other similar sporting/recreational items shall be permitted to be brought onto the stadium grounds. The only exceptions to this policy are cricket bats and “soft” cricket/tennis balls.

  • Restrictions on Banners and flags

Banners and flags, not supported by flagpoles, sticks or other means of support (exception wooden doweling not more than 10mm in diameter and a maximum of 1.5 meters in length) will be permitted to be brought onto the stadium grounds subject to the following restrictions:

– Banner or flag size limited to 1,5 meters wide by 1 meter high
– Banner wording to be tasteful, non-offensive, non-vulgar, non-political, non-racial, non-discriminatory, non-sexual and may not display advertising which may in any way impinge or will be in conflict with the rights of the sponsors of the event (in any language). Old SA flags are not permitted.

  • Any signs or items with corporate branding other than official sponsors/vendors

Deliberate (intentional) “ambush marketing” that would be seen as impacting negatively on sponsors/approved vendors advertising and sales rights will not be permitted.

  • Bicycles, scooters, skateboards, skates including in-line skates, Prams

No Bicycles, scooters, skateboards, skates including in-line skates will be permitted to be brought into the stadium. Prams will, subject to the discretion of stadium security, be allowed into stadiums.

  • Non-accredited Media Equipment

No media equipment may be brought into the stadium by persons other than duly accredited media representatives.

  • Air horns, nuisance items/equipment, trumpets, and Lasers

No air horns, lasers of any nature, light emitting strobes, trumpets, drums, musical instruments, or similar items that may cause a nuisance/disturbance to other spectators or players shall be permitted to be brought into the stadium.

  • Cans, Glass & hard/Rigid Plastic Containers

No cans, bottled minerals, glass & hard/rigid plastic containers , or other glass/hard plastic items (Exceptions – plastic cups/plastic glasses; plastic cutlery and plates; soft plastic condiment containers; ladies perfumes in clear containers & spectacles/sunglasses) shall be permitted to be brought onto the stadium grounds.

  • Mace

No mace or similar self-defense sprays shall be permitted to be brought into the stadium.

  • Compressed Gas Containers

No compressed gas canisters, aerosol cans (including but not limited to deodorant, cooking spray, paint, etc) shall be permitted to be brought into the stadium.

  • Chemicals

No chemicals of whatsoever nature (including dry ice) shall be permitted to be brought into the stadium (exception – valid & documented deliveries).

  • Video cameras, Flash Cameras

With the exception of duly accredited media or broadcasters, no person may bring video cameras or large body cameras with detachable flashes and lenses onto the stadium grounds (exception – Opening Ceremony). Compact cameras with small built-in flashes will be permitted.

  • TV’s & radios

Small transistor radios may be brought into the stadium grounds as long as they are utilized in conjunction with an ear piece. However, no large radios, DVD/CD or tape players or TV’s of whatsoever nature shall be permitted to be brought onto the stadium grounds.

  • Gas braai equipment, portable braais or similar food heating Equipment.

No portable braais, gas braai or any other food heating equipment of any nature shall be permitted in the stadium precincts.

  • Cool boxes

No hard (including polystyrene) cool boxes of whatsoever nature or size will be permitted to be brought into the stadium grounds or precincts. However, a soft cooler bag with a maximum size of 600mm x 300mm will be allowed for the purposes of bringing in food and water contained in soft, collapsible 500 ml un-branded plastic containers only.

  • Deck chairs, Umbrellas, Gazebos

No deck chairs (small collapsible plastic/wooden beach chairs with short supporting legs are allowed), beach/golf umbrellas (small collapsible rain umbrellas are allowed), gazebos or similar objects may be brought into the stadium grounds.

  • Dangerous or disruptive Goods

No “dangerous” or “disruptive” goods or items shall be permitted to be brought into the stadium.

  • Liquor Policy

Only beer, wine, and cider will be sold to the general public within the stadium precincts. Liquor sales to the general public shall commence at the start of play and will cease 30 minutes from the end of the play. In addition, all liquor sales will cease for an hour and a half immediately after the end of the meal break.

  • Smoking Policy

Spectators will be called upon as a courtesy not to smoke in the seated and un-reserved areas. So follow all this thing’s before you enter the stadium and enjoy the match with many other lovely thing and a fantastic atmosphere.

  • WATER BOTTLE

Spectators will not be allowed to carry Water Bottle inside the sitting stand and you can drink water via a glass from their vendors itself.

  • Air Pods & Bangles: 

Spectators will not be allowed to carry Air Pods and Bangles inside the stadium.

  • Coins and Cameras:

Spectators will not be allowed to take Coins and DSLR Camera’s inside the stadium so please make sure you abide the rules.
