Team India’s T20I Squad Gains 3 Exciting Additions for Ireland Series

India lost the first T20I against West Indies. The team will face Ireland later this month without most of the first-choice players. Hardik Pandya, who is leading the side in the Windies, won’t take part. Other players like Shubman Gill, Ishan Kishan, Suryakumar Yadav, Axar Patel, and Kuldeep Yadav, who are currently in the Caribbean, will be missing as well. Instead, there will be some new faces in the squad. Along with these exclusions, there are bound to be a few fresh faces and returning names in the mix.

Here are three welcome additions to Team India’s squad for the Ireland T20I series:

Shivam Dube

Shivam Dube is going to feature for Team India in the Asian Games soon. Bumrah will make his comeback in the T20Is against Ireland before Asia Cup and World Cup. Dube played 13 T20Is with a 17.5 average and a 136.36 strike rate. He also picked up five wickets at an economy rate of 10.04. The all-rounder’s numbers weren’t great, but now he’s a changed player. Dube’s move to Chennai Super Kings (CSK) has brought about a second wind in his career.

Shivam Dube demonstrated his immense spin-hitting ability and renewed faith in his own game during the 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL). Even though he didn’t bowl much in CSK’s title-winning campaign, people talked about him making an international return. India has struggled to find a left-handed spin-hitter in the middle order for quite a while now, and Dube could be the answer to those problems.

Prasidh Krishna

Prasidh Krishna is making a comeback after a year-long absence due to injuries. He will probably play his first T20I against Ireland. Prasidh has played 14 ODIs so far. He has been in the rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. If he performs well in Dublin, he could be considered for the other two formats, which is where India needs him.

Jasprit Bumrah

Jasprit Bumrah, the speedy bowler who has been grappling with a back injury for close to a year, has emerged as a major point of discussion. Not only has he secured a spot in the team, but he has also been entrusted with the captaincy role.

Should Bumrah’s physical condition remain favourable during his comeback, there’s little doubt that he will earn his place in India’s line-up for the upcoming Asia Cup and the World Cup. The Indian team is in dire need of his contributions for the significant ICC tournament, given their struggle to identify fast bowlers who can replicate his potential impact, with the exception of Mohammed Siraj, perhaps.

Learning from past errors, India will exercise caution in reintegrating Bumrah after his injury layoff. Given his inclusion in the squad for the Ireland series, it is reasonable to assume that adequate precautions have been taken. It appears that Bumrah, now fit and firing on all cylinders, will lead the team in Dublin.
