Bangladesh to host Afghanistan & Zimbabwe for T20I tri-series
Bangladesh will host Afghanistan and Zimbabwe in a T-20 tri-series, scheduled to commence from September 14. While the World Cup will be held in Bangladesh, the times and venues are yet to be finalized.
Spinner Rashid Khan will lead Afghanistan for the first time in his career in the upcoming T-20 tri-series. Prior to the start of the World Cup, Afghanistan cricket board employed for split captaincy in all three formats.
Rashid Khan has been employed as the skipper in the T-20 format, while Gulbadin will continue to lead them in One-day internationals. Afghanistan cricketer, Rahmat Shah has been selected as the skipper of their Test team.
Keeping in mind ICC T-20 World Cup will be held next year in October, teams are looking to play as many T-20 cricket matches as possible. While Afghanistan have already qualified for the super 12 in the World Cup, Bangladesh will have to play in group stages to get to the super 12 as they were ranked 10th during the time of cut-off date for the qualification.

Bangladesh to host Afghanistan & Zimbabwe for T20I tri-series: Afghanistan will play against Zimbabwe in the series opener on September 14. Rashid Khan and Co. won’t get time to rest as they will play against Bangladesh the next day on September 15 in what will be t he second match of the series. Each team will play four matches in the group stage before the two teams will be decided for the final, to be held on September 23.
Afghanistan are currently ranked seventh in the T20 ranking, while Bangladesh and Zimbabwe are ranked tenth and thirteenth respectively.
Bangladesh have been performing wonderfully in the ongoing ICC World Cup 2019. Of the seven matches, Bangladesh have managed to win three, excluding the one being washed out due to rain. With seven points, they are still in contention for the semis. They will play their next match against India on 2nd July.
Afghanistan, on the other end, have been out of the World Cup, having lost all seven matches they have played so far. Gulabdin and Co. haven’t won a single game in the World Cup, with two more matches left to be played against Pakistan and West Indies.
