Indian skipper Virat Kohli also extended his warm wishes to the right-hand batsman and noted that this was a pleasant surprise from him.

Youngest of the Pandya brothers has not played a single game since last year. He suffered a back injury which kept him out of the game after the World Cup. The right-hand batsman underwent surgery and is now keeping up well. Pandya’s last game for the Men in Blue came against South Africa in September last year.

Pandya would be looking to make a comeback in the team for the upcoming tour of New Zealand. The Indian team would love to have a genuine all-rounder like Hardik in the side. His explosive batting skills can prove to be quite lethal for the opposition. Indian team would also want their ace all-rounder to get into the groove before the T20I World Cup starts in Australia later this year.

India will start their T20 World Cup journey against South Africa on October 24, followed by the matches with England on November 1 and Afghanistan on November.

The India tour of New Zealand starts from January 24 with a five-match T20I series, which will be followed by a three-match ODI series. Both sides will also play a two-match Test series.
