Sri Lankan player ruled out of 3rd T20 International, confirms Sri Lankan coach

The T20 International series between India and Sri Lanka has been filled with up and downs. The first match saw the officials getting embarrassed due to using hairdryers and irons to dry the pitch, whereas the second match saw India bagging an easy win. However, in one of the most peculiar incidents, the Lankan all-rounder Isuru Udana injured him during the warm-up session after the conclusion of the first innings. Udana pulled his back and was not able to come out on the field for the second innings. The Sri-Lankan captain blamed Udana’s injury for a one-sided defeat against India.

Mickey Arthur, the Sri Lankan coach, has confirmed that Udana will not be a part of the squad in the third T20.
On the situation of Udana’s injury, Arthur said, “Look, I’m no doctor. He was in a hell of a lot of pain in the dressing room. What the diagnosis is, I honestly don’t know. I hope we can get him back for the West Indies series,”

Udana has been Sri Lanka’s best T20 bowler this year. Sri Lanka does not want to risk their star bowler considering the packed calendar they have in February.

Arthur, who was appointed as the Sri Lankan coach in December, further added, “We’ve got so much cricket the middle of February. I even think that could be a push. So, yeah, I hope the best for him. It’s something in the back,”
The Sri Lanka team will miss Udana in the series decider scheduled for 10th January. The final game will be the series decider after India won the 2nd T20 quite convincingly. The Lankan team need to win the game to avoid another whitewash after the humiliation in Australia.
