Sourav Ganguly Meets Irfan Pathan, Promises Full Support For Jammu And Kashmir Cricket

BCCI: The former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly is yet to complete one month as a BCCI president and he is already taking bold decisions to revamp the entire infrastructure of Indian cricket.

Not only is he working on the lines of introducing a central contract system for domestic cricketers which has never happened in the Indian domestic circuit before, he has also ensured that India play day-night test cricket straightaway as he took over as the BCCI president. BCCI was not too keen on day-night test matches in the past.

In the most recent development, Ganguly had a meeting today with the Jammu and Kashmir skipper Parvez Rasool, mentor Irfan Pathan and a senior official of the Jammu and Kashmir cricket association at the BCCI headquarters where he promised full support for the development of cricket in Jammu and Kashmir.

During the meeting, a plethora of issues was discussed related to J&K cricket and at the end, Ganguly agreed to help the trio in the quest of developing the game in J&K.

The trio requested the BCCI president to make sure that J&K play their home matches at their home grounds. Of late, the J&K team has not been able to train at home because of the communication disconnect in the region.

J&K is directly controlled by the central government of India at this point of time. It remains to be seen what Ganguly can do in terms of organizing the matches in the region.

But, what the J&K Cricket association can certainly expect from the board president is that he will provide them full assistance in terms of the facilities. Improving the cricketing infrastructure in every region is high on Ganguly’s agenda.

“The BCCI president heard their points and has assured full support for the development of cricket in the region. We have requested the BCCI president to provide us with better facilities.”, a senior J&K cricket association official told PTI on the condition of anonymity.
