Robin Van Persie makes an admission about Ole Gunnar Solksjaer after Arsenal defeat

Manchester United suffered a defeat at the hands of Arsenal on New Year’s day which sees Red Devils’ boss Ole Gunnar Solksjaer get brimful of criticism from the football fraternity.

Premier League legend Robin Van Persie insists The Norweigian gaffer should get ‘angrier’ at times when required. Van Persie said,

“When I listen to Ole, he sounds like a really nice guy,” Van Persie said on BT Sport. “I would like to see him a bit more mean at times, just be angry.

“I see him smiling now after a game like that. This is not the moment to smile.”

The red half of Manchester has had a pretty inconsistent campaign so far, where they win one week and fall to a defeat on another.

Robin Van Persie further insisted,

“They need a game plan and a bit of fear for the coach,” he said.

“You know if you don’t make those runs or make that pass, you will be punished and you won’t play the next game.”

Nicolas Pepe broke the deadlock for the hosts and it was Sokratis who wrapped up the match for Arteta’s Arsenal in the latter stages of the first half.

It’s a big opportunity missed for Solskjaer’s men, who failed to close the gap on the top four, and van Persie suggested the blame should lay at the manager’s door.

Manchester United sit 5th in the table with 31 points in the bag, 5 points adrift Chelsea who sit 4th.

While for Arsenal, it’s a dream start to the new year and Arteta’s men would be full of confidence to make a mark in the coming weeks.
