Prithvi Shaw in trouble! Court orders police to investigate in molestation case
The molestation case against the Delhi Capitals player Prithvi Shaw may turn again with a new pace. Now the Mumbai court has finally decided that police need to look into the case.
Sapna Gill, a popular social media influencer, claimed that Shaw had molested him. On the contrary, the police found no evidence of the charge against Shaw. Gill went to court after the police did not register the case.
In February 2023, Prithvi Shaw was hit by quite a few people including Gill who were detained for the attacking incident. Gill claimed in her complaint that Shaw had molested her in a pub in Andheri. On the other hand, Shaw had refused all the allegations. According to the records, there was an argument over selfies in the hotel. Gill has been released on bail.
Sapna Gill went to court after getting bail
After getting bail, Gill headed for the airport police station in Andheri. She reached here to complain about Shaw, his friend Ashish Yadav and other protagonists for the crime of molestation. When the police didn’t accept the case, Sapna Gill went to the Magistrate Court in response.
Magistrate ordered police to conduct a probe
Metropolitan Magistrate SC Tayde has instructed the police to submit the report of the investigation by June 19. This court denied Gill’s demand of action against the police which had not filed FIR against cricketer Prithvi Shaw and others based on the complaint of Gill. On Wednesday, Magistrate Tayde instructed the police for a probe to be conducted.
Police denied the claims of Gill
The prosecution has alleged that CCTV footage from the pub showed that both Gill and his friend Shobhit Thakur were drunk and dancing around. Thakur wanted to take the video of Shaw but the latter prevented him from doing so. During the investigation, the police stated that based on the recorded evidence surveillance camera didn’t show that Prithvi Shaw and others molested Gill.
The police also recorded statements from the witnesses who were at the pub at the time of the incident. They go on repeating that no one had ever touched Gill in a “wrong” way. Further, the police had gone through the CCTV footage of the Air Traffic Control i.e. ATC tower which showed Gill running after Shaw’s car with a baseball bat in her hand.
The court was informed that they smashed Shaw’s car window. A CISF officer had given a statement saying that nothing had happened to what was accused by Gill. The CISF officer said that he was approached by sources informing him of the fighting and after arriving there he witnessed that the windshield of the car had been damaged.
