NBA REPORTS: Pacers receive $10 Million insurance over Victor Oldaipo’s injury

Indiana Pacers’ All-Star Shooting Guard Victor Oladipo had suffered torn right quad knee-tendon last season and as per the reports by IndyStar, the Pacers have received a sum amount of $10 million as the insurance cover for that.

After sustaining the injury, Oladipo was forced to miss the playoffs in 2019, and also missed the first 47 games of the 2019-20 regular season. Victor is already making $21 million this season with the Pacers and is due to make the same amount in the next season too.

Talking about the current NBA season, there is still no clarity when the games will be resumed, Officials are yet to make a proper call on revoking the season suspension.

As per the rules, each NBA team has to provide the list of at least five players to receive league-wide insurance and the highest-paid players fall under the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) provision. 

The Pacers’ pay cap is estimated to be around $114.6 million this season and they are now in the position to come at $104.6 million after receiving $10 million for Oladipo’s injury. 

The breakdown of the provisional amount of insurance of the Pacers’ are as follows:

Oladipo ($21 million) to Malcolm Brogdon ($20.7 million), Domantas Sabonis ($18.5 million), Myles Turner ($17.5 million) and T.J. Warren ($11.7 million).

Before the suspension of the season, the Pacers were 5th in the Eastern Conference with a record of 39-26 in the league and Oladipo averaging  20.9 points, 5.1 rebounds and 4.4 assists in 13 appearances of this season so far. The All-Star guard was also awarded as the Most Improved Player of the season 2017-18 season. 

With the season left at a cliff-hanger, the officials are also planning of conducting the remaining matches by June-July and playoffs by August, as they fetch more revenue from the post-season matches.
