MrBeast shown interest in joining world of LoL esports through a potential NACL team venture

According to The Game Haus’ Sander Hove, who is working with Nick ‘LS’ De Cesare to provide updates on the North American League of Legends scene, MrBeast, along with other popular content creators like Tyler ‘Tyler1’ Steinkamp and Moist Esports (owned by Charles ‘MoistCr1TiKaL’ White Jr. and Ludwig Ahgren), have shown interest in joining the NACL (North American Challengers League).

Tyler1 was reportedly not allowed to join the NACL, but he hasn’t given up on the idea of having his own team in the league, according to Hove.

The NACL is the second level of professional League of Legends in North America, just below the LCS. There have been big changes in the NACL recently, as seven out of the ten LCS teams decided to withdraw from the league all at once, after the requirement to participate in the developmental league was removed.

Riot Games, the company behind League of Legends, reduced the number of teams in the NACL from 16 to 10 for the Summer Split. They also invited a team called Disguised, which is a project by content creator Jeremy ‘Disguised Toast’ Wang. Currently, Disguised is doing well in the league, with a joint-second position and an 11-7 record. They also have the highest average viewership per game, according to Esports Charts, a data firm specializing in esports.

MrBeast has always shown an interest in getting involved in League of Legends esports, but now he’s considering buying a spot in the LCS (League of Legends Championship Series) instead of the NACL.

During a guest appearance on the Worlds 2022 broadcast, MrBeast expressed his intention to acquire an LCS slot. He confidently stated that he wants to have a team that can reach the same level as the teams competing in the World Championship.

Earlier this year, Doublelift, a renowned player from 100 Thieves, mentioned that MrBeast joining the LCS would be beneficial for the league, which has been dealing with a decrease in viewership.

When TSM (Team SoloMid) announced that they were selling their LCS slot, many speculated that MrBeast could potentially be interested in buying it. However, according to a report from The New York Times on May 20, TSM has narrowed down their discussions to a few entities, mostly from the media and traditional sports industries.
