Managing Mumbai Indians change my perception towards sports: Nita Ambani

The 2020 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is just a month away and it is only a matter of time now that the franchises will start their training sessions and all the players from different parts of the world will join the squad in India. Out of all the teams, Mumbai Indians have the most successful team in this tournament, winning the trophy four times.

A brave woman named Nita Ambani bought the franchise and started to managed the team at the age of 44 and since, she has only brought success to the club and has witnessed glories as well as heartbreaks. With another edition set to begin, Nita opened up about how managing the Mumbai Indians franchise changed her perception towards sports.

She also explained that she realised the power of sports and what it does to us and our children and how channelizes our inner-energy to do better things besides teaching us how to win and lose gracefully.

The owner of the Mumbai Indians also revealed about her future dreams which includes to be at the forefront of the process that will eventually lead to India hosting the Olympic games in the future so that the upcoming generation of the country’s talent can get the opportunity to realize their potential on the world stage.

“I was 44 when I took over managing Mumbai Indians. That changed the perception of what sport does to you and does to children. It channelized their energy to do better things. It teaches them how to lose and how to win gracefully. So that’s how I started my thing saying what we really need to do is go to the grassroots and take things from there,” she said.

Mumbai Indians will play the upcoming edition as the defending champions. They won the 2019 edition after beating Chennai Super Kings in the final. Earlier, they also won the trophy in 2013, 2015 and 2017. They didn’t only stop there as they also won CLT20 twice in 2011 and 2013 respectively. It is needless to say that Nita Ambani and their men will be favourites to defend the title when the upcoming edition kicks-off on March 29.
