La Liga ambassador says Women's football in India is in the right direction

In a recent development, La Liga ambassador Anair Lomba who is currently in India working for the development and upgradation of Women’s football in the country has said that India’s footballing structure for Women is going in the right way and sooner or later the results will show.

Back in 2018, La Liga had dispensed jerseys for the Rural Football league in Southern Andhra’s Anantpur Village but now that particular project is taking care of the footballing needs of more than 3000 girls and boys around the region and initiative is taking place in a Rayalaseema region of the state where football doesn’t have much popularity.

The Spanish league has further strengthened their presence in India following a collaboration with Vincente Ferrer Foundation Rural development trust. This newly founded initiative have come up with an innovation of developing a first of its kind all women residential football academy.

La Liga ambassador and former Valencia player Anair Lomba visited Anantpur with her team to oversee the proceedings at the academy and trained all the players for a week. Lomba interacted with the young and aspiring girls and boys looking for an opportunity.

“That interaction reminded Lomba of her playing days and suggested a few ways to improve the technical quality of the players. I had to stop playing football a year ago due to persistent injuries. For the first time in a long while, I felt this emotion pf competitive football again. It is a really powerful feeling.” – said Anair Lomba

The Spaniard said that close observations of the games at the academy and stressed upon training the coaches right will help aid in developing the state of football.  For us, the most important thing is to train the coaches to evolve. “Coaches know whats best for the team and for every player, so they are the primary allies for growth.

Anair Lomba also disclosed that one of the key plans are to take the team to Spain for a highly beneficial exposure. “That will be a very good opportunity for them to learn more about other cultures and styles of play.”
