Kieron Pollard looks to take the advantage of Coronavirus break by getting in a good physical shape

West Indies’ limited-overs skipper Kieron Pollard has said that the current break in International Cricket due to the deadly coronavirus pandemic will help him in getting in a good shape. Pollard also emphasized the fact that this break would give all the players an opportunity to “introspect” their careers so that they prepare to “stay mentally and physically fit”.

Pollard who was included in the Pakistan Super League was ruled out of the tournament because of an injury in the right thigh. The 32-year-old Caribbean has now said that this time is good for his recovery as he does not have to get back to nets every day for batting and prepare for the next season.

“It is a good time for introspection, a good time for reflection, a good time to look at where you are as an individual in your career and what you want to achieve going forward,” he was quoted as saying by Jamaica Gleaner.

“You have to take this time in order to do that and also keep yourself in good physical shape, and mentally as well, because when the bell rings and they say ‘ok, everything is back to normal and we need to go on tour’, it might not be enough time to be prepared, but you as an individual have to be prepared mentally in order for you to try to perform at your best,” the 32-year-old, hard-hitter added.

West Indies is scheduled to play a three-Test series against England starting from June 4, with the warm-up matches commencing from May 22. But the series has been canceled with England canceling all the cricketing events postponed until June or July.
