Kallis, Sthalekar and Zaheer Abbas inducted in ICC Hall of Fame

The International Cricket Council (ICC) inducted three retired players to Hall of Fame list. Total of 93 players has been included in the list. A player becomes eligible 5 years after playing last international match. The adjudicating panel consists of former Hall of fame players, media members, ICC  and Federation of International Cricketer’s Association (FICA).

South Africa’s great all-rounder Jacques Kallis, Australia’s premier woman’s all-rounder Lisa Sthalekar & Pakistan’s great batsman Zaheer Abbas. Kallis is 4th South African player inducted, Zaheer is sixth from Pakistan and Lisa is 27th Australian and 9th women player in the list.

1. Jacques Kallis: He could be called as Garfield Sobers of the 1990s-2000s

  1. The only player to score 10000 runs and 250 wickets in both Test & ODI format.
  2. Leading runs scorer in tests for South Africa and third on the all-time list.
  3. Most capped South African player for ODI & test format.
  4. Spent 592 days as no 1 ranked test batsman (2005-2011)
  5. Spent 4028 days and record 493 matches as no 1 test all-rounder(2005-2013).

2. Zaheer Abbas: Also known as Asia’s Bradman

  1. Only Asian player to score 100 first-class hundreds.
  2. Scored two centuries in the same first-class match on 8 occasions.
  3. Scored double century and century in same first-class match 4 occasions which are a record.
  4. The first player to score three consecutive ODI centuries.
  5. Captained Pakistan in 14 tests and lost only once.
     
    3. Lisa Sthalekar: Her accuracy as a spinner was outstanding

  1. Topped both ODI batting and bowling rankings over course of career.
  2. First women to achieve the milestone of 1000 runs and 100 wickets in ODI.
  3. Spent 934 days as no.1 rank  ODI all-rounder (2007-2010)
  4. Part of the Australian team that won two 50 over and two 20 over World Cups.
  5. Won 12 Women’s National Cricket League with New South Wales and was captain of the team that won 5 times in a row.
