Irfan Pathan proposes charity-cum farewell match between retired and current Indian side

Former Indian allrounder, Irfan Pathan has come up with an idea, proposing a charity-cum farewell match between the retired players and the current Indian team.

He suggested this idea as a lot of voices were raised to arrange farewell matches for retired Indian players who have done a lot for the country but the way they say goodbye to cricket is not pleasant at all as most of them didn’t get the farewell match when they retired from the game.

He also gave the team of retired XI. It include names like Gautam Gambhir, Virender Sehwag, Rahul Dravid, VVS Laxman, Yuvraj Singh, Suresh Raina, MS Dhoni, Irfan Pathan, Ajit Agarkar, Zaheer Khan and Pragyan Ojha who will face the current Indian lineup.

Many people are talking about a farewell game for retired players who didn’t get a proper send-off from the game. How about a charity cum farewell game from a team consisting of retired players vs the current Indian team,” Pathan tweeted.

Earlier, Jharkhand Chief Minister, Hemant Soren had urged the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to host a farewell match for former skipper Dhoni, who announced his retirement from international cricket on August 15.

Pathan has also been instrumental in several victories for India, especially his clinical performance in inaugural editions of 2007 where India clinched the trophy as he displayed exemplary performance in the final match against the arch-rivals Pakistan where he picked 3 wickets and gave 16 runs and was adjudged the player of the match.
