One of IPL’s most precious findings – Sanju Samson had a season to remember in the last (15th) edition of the Indian Premier League as the Captain of Rajasthan Royals. He led the inaugural champions team all the way to their 2nd Final in the history of the tournament and for the first time in 14 years.
Many expected 2022 to be finally the year for Rajasthan Royals but they met a resilient team in the form of Gujarat Titans in the final and suffered a crumbling loss 7-wicket loss against Hardik Pandya’s side at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
This year with a similar side other than a few in comings, Sanju Samson and Co. will be aiming to put the drought to an end and RR win their 2nd IPL silverware.
As they search for their 2nd IPL title, former Indian Pacer Sreesanth who was a key member behind the Royals’ IPL title win in the inaugural season, has provided his inputs as to what went missing in Sanju’s captaincy last term and backed the Kerala born batter to have a great season.
Congrats RR on qualifying for the 2022 IPL Finals 💯👏 Last time they qualified for a Final: in 2008, winning the title under the great man Shane Warne's captaincy
Full support to RR in the Final. Hope they win this title as that would be the perfect tribute for Warnie 💗 pic.twitter.com/varnsmLcNx

“Sanju Samson, I genuinely hope does extremely well and gets back into the Indian line-up, scoring lots and lots of runs with lots of good performance.”
Sanju Samson made his IPL debut with Rajasthan Royals way back in 2013 as a teenager and now 9 years later, he has led RR to the Final of IPL 2022. A terrific journey for Sanju. pic.twitter.com/rXuXyxUjUo

Sreesanth was also bold enough to keep it straightforward and said that Sanju Samson’s Captaincy could also be a weakness and he needs to ready for big moments where he has lost his composure off-late. Sreesanth stressed upon Sanju Samson finding a perfect balance in his presence of mind as the man in charge.
“See, Sanju being a very attacking captain, and he has to watch. Maybe sometimes, when the occasion comes, he has to step back a bit. That’s something that even I have been telling him. So that’s one (weakness), maybe. He might have to balance between attacking and defending, so that’s one thing. Even when it comes to captaincy, he is still learning. But that will be one very important point when it comes to strength as well as weakness.”
