An issue which has been hindering Indian cricket for quite some time now – Workload management of the players has reached a new chapter ahead of a packed 2023 Cricketing schedule. This is the year of 50-over World cup and the WTC Final will also commence on June 7th and India have good chances of winning both.
India’s road to ICC Cricket World cup 2023 at home began with back-to-back ODI series wins against Sri-Lanka and New Zealand. Then Australia toured India for the 2023 edition of the Border-Gavaskar trophy and the hosts earned their 4th consecutive series win by 2-1.

However, the Aussies had an upper hand during the 3-match ODI series as stand-in captain Steve Smith led Australia to a comfortable 2-1 Series win. Now with the Indian Premier League starting from tomorrow onwards, the BCCI is urging all the franchises to keep Indian players’ work load in check.

BCCI is fearful of players getting injured ahead of a such an important year ahead. The board does not want players to go through what Jasprit Bumrah and Shreyas Iyer are going through – recurring injuries. And in order to keep their fatigue levels in check, BCCI have decided to hand players a special device to monitor their lethargy levels.

According to a recent report, BCCI will hand GPS devices to all the players who are under BCCI’s Central contract regime. The device will provide information on players’ energy levels, how much distance they are covering, speed, risk of burn outs, heart beat, blood pressure among 500 other different types of signals about a player.
The tracking device will be necessary for the players to put on during training sessions as well as matches. It was also used during the Women’s Premier League 2023 and very good results have come out from it. Meanwhile, after the IPL, team India will take on Australia on June 7th for the WTC final.
