Former Pakistan skipper Inzamam Ul-Haq was one of the greatest Pakistan batsmen the world has ever seen. The Pakistan cricketer has scored the most number of runs for Pakistan in one-day internationals. Playing 378 ODIs for his team, Inzamam scored 11,739 runs at a stellar average of 39.5. A true match-winner, Inzamam ul-Haq notched 83 half-centuries and 10 centuries in one-day internationals.

While a lot of cricket pundits call him as the greatest Pakistani batsman of all-time, Inzamam himself doesn’t think so. He recently went on air to call former Pakistani batsman Saeed Anwar as the greatest Pakistani batsman of all time.

Known for his hard-hitting abilities, Saeed Anwar was indeed one of the best players of all-time. His destructive batting abilities coupled with the ability to find the gaps make him one of the best top-order batsmen. The Pakistani cricketer played 247 one-day internationals for his team and scored 8824 runs, which included 20 centuries and 43 half-centuries.

Saeed Anwar’s batting was such that we wished to play like him,” Inzamam said in a YouTube video.

“The shots that we’d dream of at night, he would play them in the morning.”

“Out of all the Pakistani batsmen, people say I had a lot of talent and I didn’t perform according to my talent, but I believe that the talent that Saeed Anwar had, no one else had.

“When he was batting, it looked like cricket was very easy. The ball didn’t seem to be seaming or swinging. When I batted alongside him, I enjoyed it a lot. He would put the bowler under pressure, making it easier for the others,” he added.

“I don’t think there has ever been a similar wristy player in Pakistan. I think Saeed Anwar is the best ODI player that Pakistan has ever produced. When you create an ODI XI, he will easily fit it. He started hard-hitting in Pakistan.”

Apart from being the leading run-scorer in ODI-cricket, Inzamam ul-Haq was the third-highest run-getter in test cricket. In 120 tests, he scored 8830 runs, smashing 25 centuries and 46 half-centuries.
