IND vs ZIM 5th T20: India piles up big total, Pressure on Zimbabwe in last game

Team India put in a dominant batting performance, setting a challenging target of 168 runs for Zimbabwe in the fifth and final T20I match of the IND vs ZIM series played at Harare on Sunday. Meanwhile, India has already secured the series with 3 wins and 1 loss in the 5-match T20I series.

Zimbabwe, after winning the toss, chose to field first. This decision proved wrong as the openers, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill, got off to a solid start. Unfortunately, Gill’s dismissal by Richard Ngarava halted their momentum.

However, Yashasvi Jaiswal started off well as he smashed 2 sixes and scored 12 runs off just 5 balls. But Jaiswal failed to convert his solid start into a big inning.

The middle order witnessed a minor hiccup as India lost three quick wickets – Abhishek Sharma, Shubman Gill, and Riyan Parag – to find themselves at a moderate 105/4. However, the experienced duo of Sanju Samson (58 runs) and Shivam Dube (26 runs) steadied the ship with a crucial partnership. Samson, in particular, impressed with his aggressive batting, smashing 4 sixes and 1 four during his knock.

After the dismissals of Samson and Dube, the lower order ensured India finished the innings on a high note. Rinku Singh (11* runs) and Washington Sundar (1* run) remained unbeaten, taking the team to a commanding total of 167 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in their 20 overs.

With a target of 168 runs to chase, the pressure is now firmly on the Zimbabwean batting line-up. The Indian bowling attack, which has performed well throughout the series, will be looking to capitalize and defend their total effectively.

The IND vs ZIM series victory in Zimbabwe is a positive step forward for the young Indian team as they prepare for upcoming challenges. It has provided a platform for young players like Riyan Parag and Abhishek Sharma to showcase their talent, while also allowing established players to find form.
