IND Vs WI 2nd Test: Rohit Sharma’s Men break 22-year-old Sri-Lankan record of Fastest team Hundred
After winning the first Test at Dominica a bit too easily, Rohit Sharma-led India are cruising in for another win at Queens Park. In an already successful tour, Indian openers Rohit and Yashasvi Jaiswal eclipsed a record set by Sri-Lanka in 2001 of the Fastest Team Hundred in Test Cricket.
The duo have already broken some records since the 1st Test, one of them being the only 2 Opening batters to stand for back-to-back 100+ partnerships at Carribea. Despite Rohit and Jaiswal missing out on their expected centuries in the 1st innings, both of them looked unfazed and started striking the Windies bowling attack.

Before Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan came out to bat, Jaiswal and Rohit amassed 38 and 57 runs respectively. They stood for a partnership of 98 runs in just 11.5 overs before Rohit Sharma’s glanced shot towards fine leg was caught. And after Shubman Gill took the guard, India reached 100 runs 12.2 Overs – the Fastest team Hundred registered in Test cricket, taking only 74 balls.
Back in 2001, during the Asian Test championship, Sri-Lanka reached Triple figures in 13.2 overs, taking 80 balls against Bangladesh. While every other nation are trying out different styles of play, “Dravball” is looking in full flow but can it work against the Heavyweights is what everyone is trying to find out
With India’s test transition already in full effect, South Africa will welcome the Indians for a 2-match Test series after a lengthy period of ODI cricket. Their tour will include 3-match ODI and T20I series before Rohit Sharma’s men play Red ball cricket after 5 months.
Meanwhile in the on-going 2nd Test at Queen’s Park oval, India have surmounted a target of 365 for West Indies. The hosts require 289 runs on Day 5 while India need 8-wickets.
