Amelia Kerr scored an impressive 60 runs off 32 balls, but it was not enough to prevent the London Spirit from falling short by just one run to the Northern Superchargers in the 24th match of The Hundred Women’s Competition 2023 at Lord’s on Friday.
The Spirit, who were put into bat, got off to a slow start, losing their opener Niamh Holland in early succession. However, Kerr solely put on a 60 off 32 to steady the ship. She continued to bat aggressively, hitting 9 fours in her inning.

The Spirit reached 135 for 7 in their 100 balls, a total that looked like it would be enough to win the match. However, the Superchargers’ openers, Jemimah Rodrigues and one-down batter Phoebe Litchfield, got off to a flying start, putting on 49 runs together for the third wicket.
The Spirit bowlers fought back well, but the Superchargers always looked like they had enough runs on the board. Rodrigues was eventually dismissed for 30, but Litchfield continued her aggression as the Superchargers reached 136 for 6 with one ball to spare.
