ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2023 : Top 5 players to Watch out for

ICC Women’s T20 World cup 2023 begins today from at South Africa as the hosts welcome Sri-Lanka women for the opening game of the tournament. The last edition in 2020 was won by Australia and the Proteas being the hosts will look to have a similar impact as the host nation.

Total of 10 teams will battle it out for the World cup for the next 2 weeks. All the teams have been divided into 2 groups with Australia, Bangladesh, New Zealand, South Africa and Sri-Lanka in group A while England, India, Ireland, Pakistan and West Indies will face off in Group B.

The Indian women in Blue will look to follow the lead of the U-19 Women’s team which won the inaugural edition of the T20 world cup. Shafali Verma – the captain of U-19 team is in the squad and she will definitely be opening for India and her presence in the team will benefit the Indian team.

1. Alice Capsey (England) – The English number 3 batter is an important asset for the team and has proved her mettle time in and time out since her debut in July 2022. She appeared in 10 T20Is last season, scored 234 runs, averaging 33.42 powered by a strike rate of 127.86.

2. Richa Ghosh (India) – The presence of Richa Ghosh in the team could prove to be a blessing for India. The wicket-keeper Batter had an outstanding impact in 2022. She played 18 T20Is last year and was also an important part of the U-19 Women’s T20 World cup winning team.

3. Marufa Akter (Bangladesh) – Marufa Akter had a great impact in the recently concluded U-19 WT20 World cup and will look to replicate the same for the senior team.

4. Amy Hunter (Ireland) – Amy Hunter is the youngest female cricketer to score a full century and since her debut, Hunter scored 216 runs under 13 appearances.

5. Darcie Brown (Australia) – Brown is one of the best young Women bowlers in world cricket and she will be a major player for the defending champions at South Africa.
