ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 : England and New Zealand could play the opening match! India to begin against Australia!

The clarity we all have been wanting for is maybe here as sources close to BCCI have shed light upon how the schedule is going to be for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. As we all know, India will be hosting the mega event for the first time in 12 years and the country is also welcoming an ICC tournament for the first time since the 2016 ICC T20 World cup.

It was earlier revealed that the CWC is slated to get underway from October 5 to November 19, but matches were not disclosed. However, in a recent development, source have informed us that last edition’s finalists, England and New Zealand will play the opening game at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Gujarat.

The World’s largest cricket stadium will host several high-octane WC matches including an India-Pakistan showdown as well as the Finale. The hosts led by Rohit Sharma will begin their campaign against 4-time World champions Australia at Chennai.

The Mother of rivalries between India and Pakistan will see a new chapter being written between the teams on October 15 also at N. Modi Stadium. It clearly means that Pakistan will most definitely travel to India for the World cup regardless of all the tension taking place between the countries for the hosting of Asia Cup.

Although BCCI have not released the schedule, but it is revealed that once the IPL comes to an end, the schedule will come out.

Pakistan will play their games in Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Chennai, and Bengaluru, according the preliminary schedule created thus far. The majority of Pakistan games have taken place at grounds allocated by the BCCI in the South Zone, with Chennai receiving a few additional games due to its reputation as a tranquil host with a supportive audience.

Other than the 3 Southern India locations, 7 North and East Indian cities have been allocated matches. Kolkata, Delhi, Indore, Dharamshala, Guwahati, Rajkot and Mumbai will stage WC matches but Mohali and Nagpur won’t organize matches.
