I Will Only Return When I Get Fully Fit, says Williamson
New Zealand captain Kane Williamson has set his sights on getting his knee right and making sure it is ready to go for the upcoming ICC World Cup 2023. Williamson suffered a knee injury in the opening game of the IPL 2023 and has been sidelined ever then. He underwent surgery to repair the ACL tear and is currently in the rehabilitation phase.

In an interview with Cricbuzz, Williamson said that his focus is on getting his knee right and making sure it is strong enough to withstand the rigours of international cricket. “The target is to get the knee right and making sure it’s ready to go when the time comes,” Williamson said. “It’s still a bit of a journey, but I’m making good progress.”
Williamson admitted that there have been some setbacks along the way, but he is confident that he will be able to make a full recovery. “There have been some good days and some bad days, but overall I’m tracking well,” he said. “I’m just trying to stay patient and keep working hard.”
The World Cup is less than a year away, but Williamson is not setting any deadlines for his return. He said that he will only return to cricket when he is fully fit and confident that he can perform at his best. “I don’t want to put any timelines on it,” he said. “I just want to make sure that I’m ready when I do come back.”
Williamson is a key member of the New Zealand team and his absence has been sorely felt in their recent performances. The Black Caps have lost their last three ODI series and are currently ranked sixth in the world. Williamson’s return will be a major boost for the team and will give them a much-needed chance to challenge for the World Cup title.
In the meantime, Williamson is focused on getting his knee right and making sure it is ready for the biggest tournament in cricket. He knows that he has a lot of work to do, but he is confident that he will be able to make a full recovery and return to the top of his game.
