“I was sacked from captaincy despite doing well in ICC Tournaments” reveals emotional Virat Kohli in latest RCB Podcast

The Indian women’s cricket team just missed the opportunity to advance to the Women’s T20 World Cup finals. This put an end to India’s hopes of winning the Women’s T20 World Cup.

Yet just like the women’s squad, India’s men’s cricket team has also gone through a transitional period. As no ICC title has been won by India’s men’s cricket team in the past ten years. While Virat Kohli has led Team India during this phase for a considerable amount of time.

And Kohli had discussed all of this once more. In a podcast series that RCB aired prior to the 2023 IPL, Kohli was questioned about how it feels not to have won an ICC championship while serving as captain.

Kohli said ”I have led the team in major competitions like the ICC Champions Trophy 2017, WTC 2021, World Cup 2019, and T20 World Cup 2022. In all of these tournaments, we came close to the semifinals and finals but having a hard luck we fell short of taking first place and winning the tournament. Despite this I was viewed as a failure as a captain.”

Many questions were being raised during Kohli’s captaincy as a result he left the captaincy later. Now, the Indian Cricket team is being lead by Rohit Sharma.

Virat Kohli recently reached the milestone of 25000 runs in international cricket. While competing in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy, he reached this milestone. India now has a 2-0 lead in the four-match series, and the third test is set to begin on March 1.
