As the English team tightens its grip in the ongoing third and the final test, the Caribbean side has been struggling really hard in keeping up with the storming hosts.
Speaking on which the West Indies coach, Phil Simmons, said in a news conference “We haven’t had any centuries in this series, so I am going to push them to go out there and get it.“
In the 3rd day of West Indies vs England’s third test, England showed complete dominance on the field. West Indies coach, Phil Simmons later stated,
“On this wicket, we showed in the first innings of the second test that we are doing what is necessary, we are getting scores, we get a few fifties, but you haven’t got to carry on, and these guys one nearly 600 and the other 500 test wickets makes things hard and they are relentless. So, I think it is one of the most difficult places to bat, especially against these two experienced bowlers.”
“Tomorrow is only the fourth day so we’ve got a lot of time to bat,” Simmons added.
Stuart Broad took 6 for 31 in the first innings and continued to attack in the second innings by removing the opener John Campbell and night watchman Kemar Roach cheaply. Stuart Broad also neared 500 wickets in Test cricket. Only six other bowlers in history have reached this milestone, including his long-time partner James Anderson (129 matches)
Coming back to the ongoing Test series, England displayed a phenomenal game. Joe Root, Rory Burns, and James Anderson have been terrific so far, contributing to multiplying the team’s chances of winning the series.
The English team registered 369 runs in the first innings, followed by 226/2 in the second innings before declaring, thereby setting a target of 399 runs. West Indies will resume their innings at 10/2 on Monday. They will have to jump in with both feet to go past 389 runs needed to get the victory crown.
