Hockey India new coach

In the recently finished FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup 2023 in Bhubneshwar, Indian Men’s Hockey performed miserably.

India’s performance was dismal; after losing to New Zealand in the first round of the quarterfinals, they were eliminated from the competition.

Instant India left, then-coach Graham Reid, who had brought honor to India by winning the bronze medal at the Olympics in Tokyo after a 41-year wait, was fired from his position.

There were numerous concerns on who will handle the responsibility.

There were 5 coaches in contention, including Shane Lowe, Harendra Singh, Siegfried Aikman, Massimilano Caldas, and Ronald Olteman.

These names didn’t come up, as the new coaching staff announced including the likes of David John, BJ Kariappa and Shivendra Singh has been appointed as the new interim coaches.

India will be preparing for the forthcoming FIH Pro League following the 2023 Hockey World Cup. Their campaign in the league, which will feature many matches versus Germany, will begin on March 10.

Focusing on the specifics of these instructors, David John, who was a physiologist and the high-performance director for Hockey India while he was a member of the Indian setup, played a crucial part in helping him get fitter in time for the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo.

Shivendra Singh played as a forward for the national team, and BJ Kariappa was the coach of the junior men’s hockey squad.

Germany is now rated fourth in the international men’s hockey rankings, while the United States’ men’s national team is currently ranked fifth.

India will face a difficult struggle in trying to control Germany’s rise in the next competition. There is no change in the captaincy, Harmanpreet Singh will be resuming the leadership role.

Hardik, Vivek and Raj Kumar will play midfield for India.
