Former South African Captain Graeme Smith Got Married For The Second Time

The former South African captain Graeme Smith got married to her long-time partner Romy Lanfranchi in a private affair earlier today.

Smith and Romy have been in relationship with each other since Smith’s divorce with his first wife Morgan Deane.

Morgan Deane was an Irish singer whom Smith had dated during his playing days and had converted the relationship into marriage in 2011.

However, after Smith’s retirement from cricket, the relationship between Smith and Morgan soured and the couple had to part ways in 2015. Morgan, who had shifted from Ireland to South Africa after her marriage with Smith, still stays in South Africa.

This is Romy’s second marriage as well. She has been married to late Michel Lanfranchi before.

Both Smith and Romy have two kids each from their previous marriages and one kid together. All the 5 kids were present in the marriage ceremony and looked happy along with the bride and the groom who were obviously ecstatic on their special day.

While Smith has been commentating for different sports network since hanging his boots, Romy practices law in South Africa.

Smith is the only captain in the history of test cricket who has captained in more than 100 test matches. Having been given the captaincy of the South African team in his early twenties, Smith turned South Africa into a powerhouse in world cricket.

During Smith’s days as captain, not only did South Africa play well consistently at home, they played well away too.

The only little blemish in Smith’s captaincy was that he couldn’t guide South Africa to a World Cup title. He captained the Proteas in two World Cups, but without any eventual success.

Smith announced his retirement from international cricket in 2014 at just 33 years of age. He played a total of 117 test matches and 197 ODIs for South Africa.
