Former Pakistani Wicket-keeper Batter Kamran Malik says PCB needs to change their vision going forward!

Former Pakistani cricketer Kamran Akmal recently expressed his opinions on left-arm pacer Mohammad Amir’s return to the country’s national team and suggested that the selection committee should give youthful players more consideration than the seasoned bowler.

Amir should certainly get a chance to play for the country, according to Akmal. However, the 41-year-old believes that the board should give priority to young players who are competing in domestic leagues and reward them for their grit.

“We should definitely consider him (Amir). He plays domestic cricket. Selection shouldn’t be solely based on PSL. There is T20 cricket and ODI. He has left playing forte cricket but there is Test cricket…he can still make a comeback in Test cricket, he can perform well but you should first pay attention to players who are active in first-class cricket.”

Kamran Akmal further said that PCB are not doing justice to the local players and slammed the board for letting a player find his way back to the team who is planning to settle down at England. He also said that even if he wants to make a comeback that is okay but the local players should be prioritized first.

He also asked Pakistan Cricket Board to make a change in their policies and told me to make their vision clear before anything. “Don’t they deserve a chance. It’s not just about Mohammad Amir or Junaid Khan or any other player for that matter but we should work on our vision and better our policy.”

Akmal also said that the Pakistani cricket team must be grateful as they were able to qualify directly to the ICC Cricket World cup 2023 whereas top teams like South Africa, West Indies and Sri-Lanka are still fighting for their place in the tournament.

“We should be grateful that we have been able to qualify for the 2023 ODI World Cup. Top three teams – South Africa, West Indies and Sri Lanka are contesting in the qualifying rounds. They are not at the level to compete there so if they make a comeback it’ll cost us the 2027 World Cup.”
