Former Pakistani All-rounder appeals to Indian Prime Minister about letting cricket take place between India and Pak!

Former Pakistani International All-rounder Shahid Afridi has pledged to request to India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi about the possibility of a Bilateral series and also to allow team India to travel to Pakistan. Afridi respected the fact that BCCI is the strongest cricket board in the world and thus they must allow Cricket to place between the 2 nations.

The 2009 ICC T20 World cup winner said this during the recently concluded Legends League Cricket T20 which features some of the renowned cricketers who have now retired. Afridi while captaining the Asia Lions made it clear that BCCI being the strongest board should look into it and take responsibility in this matter.

The 46-year-old emphasized on the fact that instead of being this enemy of Pakistan, BCCI should take accountability and maintain good friendship. “What can we do if we want to befriend someone and he does not talk to us? There is no doubt that the BCCI is a very strong board, but when you are strong, you have more responsibility. You don’t try to make more enemies, you need to make friends.”

Both India and Pakistan meet each other only during ICC events or during the intercontinental cups – Asia Cup. Viewership goes over the roof whenever these 2 teams square off but it has been over a decade since either of the teams traveled for a Bilateral series.

There are also talks surrounding India’s absence from the upcoming Asia Cup taking place at Pakistan as the Men in Blues will not participate unless the tournament is moved to a neutral venue. In response, PCB have said that they will also not travel to India for this year’s ICC Cricket World cup and there is still no clarity regarding that issue.

Meanwhile, Shahid Afridi assured that security issues are from being one of the concerns for India as many International teams as well as players have traveled to Pakistan and played Cricket with peace.

“As far as the security concern in Pakistan is concerned, we had many international teams traveling here recently. We used to face security threats from India as well, but if permission is received from the government of both the countries then the tour will happen.”
