Former South Africa skipper Faf du Plessis has openly cast his support for safeguarding Black Lives in the country as well as globally by posting on his official Instagram handle on Friday.

Faf cited that it is important to safeguard Black Lives to perpetuate ‘All Lives Matter’. The star batsman firmly stood against the racism especially after the death of the African-American citizen George Flloyd.

The ‘Black Lives Matter’ campaign recently found support during the first test match between West Indies and England last week. The players kneeled down to show their solidarity against racism.

In his post, Faf opened up on his observations on the entire issue and what he feels should be done in order to protect the dignity and existence of the Black Lives globally.

“In the last couple of months, I have realised that we must choose our battles. We are surrounded by many injustices in our country that require urgent attention and action to fix them,” Plessis captioned it on Instagram.

“I acknowledge that South Africa is still hugely divided by racism and it is my personal responsibility to do my best to emphasize, hear the stories, learn and then be part of the solution with my thoughts, words and actions,” the 36-year-old added.

Earlier, his teammate Lungi Ngidi had openly supported the BLM movement for which he some people criticised him; however, Cricket South Africa (CSA) backed the pacer and instead stood firm for the cause.

The cricket in South Africa will begin from July 18 on Nelson Mandela International Day. The matches will be played at the SuperSport Park in Pretoria where all the players will be seen supporting the BLM movement.
