Darren Sammy wears an unusual mask in a bid to fight Covid-19

In the wake of deadly Covid-19, the whole world has been in turmoil. Close to 180 people have been tested positive, while 4 deaths have been confirmed so far in India. While the governments of all the countries have been taking strict measure to curb the disease, celebrities have also come forward to spread awareness through videos or informative messages.

A host of cricketers across the world have expressed their concern over the deadly disease. The likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma have all posted videos or wrote messages, instructing people to take precautions and thereby come-together in fighting the deadly disease.

Meanwhile, Darren Sammy is the recent one to join the bandwagon. The former West Indies skipper spread awareness in the Caribbean style. He took to social media to post of video him wearing an unusual mask. The mask has garnered a lot of attention and even compared it with the ones worn by actors in Star Wars.

Darren Sammy was recently seen in the Pakistan Super League. He led the Peshawar Zalmi team in this edition before he was axed from the team, making way for Wahab Riaz to lead the side for the rest of the tournament.

The Pakistan Super League had reached its semi-final stages before it got postponed to a later date due to Covid-19 outbreak. Prior to making the decision, all the league stage matches had been done and dusted and the two semi-finals and finals were due to be held on 17th and 18th March 2020.

Sammy along with the likes of Tom Banton, Liam Livingstone, Lewis Gregory, and Carlos Brathwaite etc. flown back to their respective countries on the same day.

The Covid-19 outbreak has led to various sporting events come to a standstill. All the international tournaments have been called-off or rescheduled on a later date, while the domestic cricket leagues the globe has also come to a halt, be it Indian Premier League or Pakistan Super League.
