Concacaf announces postponement of the National League Finals 2020

Central American and Caribbean Association Football (Concacaf) has declared the suspension of the Concacaf Nations League Finals which were slated to be held from June 4- June 7, 2020.

The decision was taken in view of the global coronavirus pandemic and its intensifying situations, after consultation with FIFA in regard to the international football calendar, giving full priority to the safety and welfare of the football community.

“Given the ongoing public health situation, and following consultation with FIFA regarding the international football calendar, we have made the decision to suspend the Concacaf Nations League Finals, which was scheduled for June 4th – 7th 2020 in the Houston and Dallas areas.”, Cocacaf’s statement read.

CONCACAF is constantly monitoring the situations all over the world and assessing its impacts on the upcoming championships in the international football calendar. The rescheduled dates and venues for the semi-final and final matches of the National League, which involves the participation of Costa Rica, Honduras, Mexico, and USA men’s national teams are yet to be decided and will be done after confirmation with FIFA and the public health authorities after it is declared safe to resume the games. The Costa Rica team was to face the Mexicans and the USA men were to play against Honduras team in the semi-finals.

Furthermore, the association has also called off the Road to Gold Cup qualification matches scheduled to take place in June and the Flow Caribbean Club Championship set to happen in May this year. The new schedule of these matches remains awaited.
