Great News for all the people who advocate for Gender pay parity and equal opportunities to both Men and Women as per latest report revenue generated through elite women sports will fetch more than $2.35 billion in the year 2025.

Based on report presented by Deloitte, Global Revenues in Women elite sports will increase by $2.35 billion in retrospect $1.88 Billion in last fiscal year.

These increase in amount is based on several factors which include- matchday fees, broadcast and commercial revenue is expected to increase by 240% in four years.

In 2024, Women elite sports industry crossed billion dollar threshold for the first time.

Commercial Revenue: 54%

Broadcast Revenue: 25%

Match Day Revenue: 21%

Most revenues in Women elite sport will be generated via basketball and football who are expected to generate revenue close 44% and 35% respectively.

“The growth of women elite sports is a positive sign for sports community as a whole and these growth have exceed all expectations as various leagues, competitions, significant exposure will only take women sports towards next level” stated Jennifer Haskel, Knowledge and Insights Head at Deloitte Sports Business Group.

The next biggest women’s sports event in line is none other than Rugby Women’s World Cup to be held in England from August 22nd- September 27th 2027 & FIFA Women’s World Cup in the same year are expected to generate significant revenues.

In India, Women’s Premier League is certainly making its mark but still more teams and time is required to make this extremely profitable league.

BCCI should be given enormous credit for empowering women players through world class leagues like WPL where the Indian domestic players can share dressing room with top players and learn the nuances of cricket from the best in the business.
