BBL 12 : This Australian T20 specialist will retire once the on-going season concludes

Australia’s T20 specialist and Veteran who goes by the name (Daniel) Dan Christian has announced his wish to retire from the Cricketing circuit after the Big Bash League 12 ends. The 39-year-old Aussies has been an active player for more than a decade and has won several T20 titles in Australia as well as in other domestic leagues.

He took to Twitter on Saturday to express his decision and hopes to say goodbye to the sport in style by winning the BBL 12 with Sydney Sixers. Christian last played a T20 match for Australia was in 2021 against Bangladesh at Mirpur since his debut in February 2010.

His career in global T20 leagues have been filled with multiple silverwares. In total, Dan has played 405 T20 games, scored 5809 runs and picked 280 scalps. He could play at least play 6 more matches in the BBL including the final.

The 39-year-old All-Rounder has won 9 domestic T20 league titles since 2010 with his last Trophy coming in 2020-21 with the Sixers, 2 years after helping Melbourne Stars to the trophy.

Christian made 254 runs and grabbed 15 wickets for the Renegades in 2018-19 (including being named player of the match in the low-scoring final) and then struck 272 runs with a strike-rate of 182.55 and claimed 15 wickets in 2020-21.

His last first-class encounter was in 2018, but he made an unexpected return to Australia’s ODI squad in 2021, when he faced the West Indies in the Caribbean, despite the fact that the side was missing numerous first-choice players owing to Covid limitations.

We wish him the very best and hope to see him in a coaching role in near future.
